Deuteron® WAX TF is a micronized PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene)-modified polyolefin with a fine particle size distribution and excellent ease of dispersion. PTFE imparts coatings with superior mar resistance and anti-blocking properties. Given the high cost of pure PTFE powders, this product provides a cost-effective solution by combining PTFE with polyolefin, offering many of the outstanding properties of pure PTFE.

Functions: Anti-Marring Agent, Flattener, Slip Control Agent

Chemical Family: Polyolefin Waxes, Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) Waxes

End Uses: Lacquers, Powder Coating, Radiation Curable Coating, Solventborne Coating, Varnishes, Waterborne Coating

Features: Abrasion Resistance, Blocking Resistance, Excellent Dispersibility, Good Antiblocking Properties, Good Surface Protection, Low Slippage, Mar Resistance, Matting, Metal Mark Resistance, Slip Resistance

Product Applications
  • It can be used in all solvent-based lacquer systems and printing inks; both air-drying and stoving.
  • The use of Deuteron-WAX TF also leads to excellent results in powder coatings.
Dosage Information

0,5 - 2,0 % (calculated on the complete formula- tion) depending on binder, application and required properties.

Processing Recommendations
  • Because of its excellent dispersina properties WAX TF has to be ground in a bead mill, attention has to be paid to the mill base temperature. The low melting point of the polyolefin can lead to agglomeration caused by high temperatures and strong solvents present in the system.
  • If Deuteron-WAX TF has to be used in water-based systems, the wetting properties are unsatisfactory because of its hydrophobic character. We suggest to prepare a premix of Deuteron-WAX TF with glycol or with a suitable wetting agent.

Product Properties
  • Deuteron-WAX TF is a micronized PTFE-modified polyolefin characterized by a fine particle size distribution and good ease of dispersion. PTFE equips coatings with the best mar resistance and anti-blocking. Due to the high price of pure PTFE-powders these products can be used only in a small range of applications. The combination of PTFE with polyolefin leads to an inexpensive product which includes many excellent properties of pure PTFE.
  • Deuteron-WAX TF has been designed specifically for incorporation in lacquers and coatings using high speed stirring only. This makes the produc- tion process more economic. Deuteron-WAX TF imparts excellent buff resistance and slip proper- ties. It produces a durable, semi-gloss finish when used either alone or with silica.
