Trapylen® 112 X is a chemically modified low-chlorinated polypropylene renowned for its exceptional affinity to polyolefinic plastics, including PP, PP/EPDM-blends, and, to a limited extent, PE. Notably, it boasts a higher molecular weight and a narrow molecular weight distribution compared to other modified chlorinated types. This product finds versatile applications, serving either as a straight primer or as an adhesion promoter for base coats and pigmented primers. Its primary utilization is in paintings and coatings for molded parts, as well as sealing profiles in the automotive industry, exemplified in applications such as bumpers, side panels, and door seals.

Functions: Adhesion Promoter, Coupling Agent

Product Type: Primer

Application Area: Automotive Bumpers, Side Panels

Application Method: Brush, Dip Coating, Spray

Main Uses
  • TRAPYLEN® 112 X is used either as a straight primer or as an adhesion promoter for base coats and pigmented primers.
  • TRAPYLEN® 112 X principal use is in paintings/coatings for molded parts and sealing profiles in the automotive industry, such as bumpers, side panels and door seals.
  • TRAPYLEN® 112 X can also be used in adhesives and flocking agents for door seals.
  • TRAPYLEN® 112 X is used in industrial applications where PP based plastics are chemically pretreated.
Applications
  • Using TRAPYLEN® 112 X as a primer dilute the resin solution with xylene to 5 % solids.
  • TRAPYLEN® 112 X primer can be applied by spraying, dipping, brushing or printing.
  • Drying conditions: 30 s at 80 °C, residual quantity of resin about 3...4 g/m2.
  • When using TRAPYLEN® 112 X as adhesion promoter in base coats/pigmented primers, the compatibility of the system must be checked.
  • The resulting base coat can be applied by spraying, dipping, brushing or printing if the system allows it. Drying conditions: Usually 30 min at 80 °C, residual quantity about 15 g/m2.
