Features & Benefits
- Product Highlights
- TRAPYLEN®145 S is a chemically modified low chlorinated polypropylene with outstanding affinity to polyolefinic plastics such as PP, PP/EPDM-blends and, with imitations to adhesion strength, to PE.
- Among our CPO-products this grade has the lowest chlorine content and highest molecular weight of around 110 000. Therefore the solubility in xylene is limited and resin soultions should not exceed a solids content of 5%.
- Product Uses
- TRAPYLEN®145 S is used either as a straight primer or as an adhesion promoter for base coats and pigmented primers.
- Its principal use is in paintings/coatings for molded parts and sealing profiles in the automotive industry, such as bumpers, side panels and door seals.
- TRAPYLEN® can also be used in adhesives and flocking agents for door seals.
- TRAPYLEN® is used in industrial applications where PP based plastics are chemically pretreated.

- Product Applications
- Using TRAPYLEN® 145 S as a primer dissolve the resin in xylene to 5 % solids. This primer can be applied by spraying, dipping, brushing or printing.
- Drying conditions: 30 s at 80 °C, residual quantity of resin about 3-4 g/m².
- When using TRAPYLEN® 145 S as adhesion promoter in base coats/pigmented primers, the compatibility of the system must be checked. The resulting base coat can be applied by spraying, dipping, brushing or printing if the system allows it.
- Drying conditions: Usually 30 min at 80 °C, residual quantity about 15 g/m².

- Only soluble in aromatics.
- Dissolving process: Place 1 part of TRAYPLEN® 145 S and 2 parts of solvent (toluene, xylene) into a dissolver and stir the resin to dissolve it by friction.
- The temperature of the system should be raised to 60 °C and held there for at least 3 hours.
- After finishing the dissolving process adjust the solids content to e.g. 5% and filter the solution.
